Birthdays and Special Occasions
Here at The Honeymoonist, we believe that life is best measured in love, and that milestones should celebrated in kind. Whether you’re celebrating your 40th or your 80th, a graduation or a retirement, or just need a dose of fun and adventure with dear friends, we know that nothing makes more indelible memories than sharing a travel experience. We excel in planning for groups, and adding in extra elements that make a trip truly special —even if the occasion it’s just celebrating the joy of being alive, right here, right now (and really, is there any other better reason?) Here are some of our favorite ways to make memories.
Renting a villa with friends is a dream for many people. And with good reason: A private villa acts as home away from home, only with perks like housekeeping and concierge services. And it can offer a better value than a luxury hotel for groups, not to mention privacy. Europe is a natural for villas, be it a stone farmhouse in Tuscany or seaside town of Hvar, Croatia. But kicking back in the hills of St. Barths or St. John is equally magical. We have contacts all over the world for amazing homes ranging in size from 3 to 15 rooms (or more), with perks like private swimming pools, expansive lawns and living rooms designed for parties, and private chef services.
Cruising the World
When it comes to traveling with a group, things don’t get much easier than cruising. Bypass the megaships for a mid-size ship that gives you room to spread out but won’t leave you lost in the crowd. Book far in advance (at least 6 months out) so you can select cabins near each other for your group, and get choice dining options; many ships have private dining rooms you can rent for an event, or the ability to reserve tables near each other for dinner. In port calls, skip the organized tours and set up your own excursions, complete with driver and private behind-the-scenes tours, beach days or whatever else appeals, creating a custom adventure that reflects your interests and passions and allows lots of time for connecting.
Nothing bonds like adventure, which is why its the hottest trend in travel today. Imagine taking a group of friends to the Serengeti to witness the Great Migration, enjoying amazing safari drives by day and lavish dinners under the stars at night, paired with best South African wines. Or doing a private tour through South America, sipping wines in Chile, learning the tango in Buenos Aires and overnighting at Iguazu Falls, which puts Niagara Falls to shame. Having a tour leader who travels with you and handles all of the details from check-ins to tipping tour guides means you get to focus solely on fun and adventure with your friends.
