One of our favorite things to do is talk travel with our globe-trotting pals. Like the wonderful Brian Worley, whose low-key demeanor and huge heart belies the fact that he plans mega-events in Hollywood with his company YourBASH! (Think American Idol, Coachella, polo matches attended by British royals…and yes, weddings!)

One of his fave escapes is Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele on Lanai, Hawaii. It’s the sister property to Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay; Manele is by the beach and Koele is set in the highlands at 1,600 feet. Here’s why he loves it, in his own words:
“I’ve been fortunate enough to travel all over the world in my lifetime — I’ve been to Tibet and Nepal, New Zealand, Costa Rica, all over Europe and Russia. But one of my all-time favorite places on the planet is the Four Seasons Lodge at Koele on Lanai.

After spending a few days at Four Seasons Manele Bay (also an incredible property), we made our way up to the Lodge and for what I think was the first time in my life (not to sound too dramatic!) I felt the weight of the world literally lift off my shoulders. The Lodge is one of the most peaceful, tranquil and magical resorts on the planet! Upon entering the open lobby, you just want to curl up on one of the oversized couches and take a nap. The giant fireplace and the rustic yet homey decor makes for the perfect place to unwind.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with colorful, tropical-inspired decor that’s not too theme-y or overdone. Mine had huge windows that looked onto the beautifully manicured property. It’s the perfect mix of comfort, style and luxury. I’ve stayed in many, many hotel rooms and these were done with the traveler in mind — one who may just want to stay in his room, curled up and watching a movie or taking another nap after the one he just had in the lobby!

The food at the resort was always delicious. I especially loved the breakfasts. If you go, make sure to have the Chocolate Peanut Butter French Toast! It literally melts in your mouth and was good enough to have two days in a row!

Typically, I would’ve enjoyed the spa; I hear it’s incredible. But I was so relaxed I didn’t need my standard travel massage. We went horseback riding at the stables across the road, which provided an opportunity to experience all of Lanai’s beauty. We also went to the shooting range, which is one of my favorite things to do. (I love to shoot guns at non-alive targets — just making sure that is clear!) You can lounge by the pool, take a nap, read a book or just hang out. There’s also a shuttle that runs to the beach all day so you can enjoy the best of both worlds while on the same island.

Leaving the best for last: The views, the lawns, the landscaping and the sweeping surrounding of trees around the Lodge are breathtaking. It feels as though you’ve left Hawaii and landed in mountain paradise. It truly is one of the most enchanting places on earth — and that’s coming from someone who has difficulty actually relaxing!”

Note from The Honeymoonist: In addition to honeymoons, the Lodge at Koele makes a unique Hawaii wedding spot, with gorgeous backdrops and the beach just a few minutes away. Onsite planners are available at the hotel but we think Brian is the perfect person to plan it for you!
