Latest from the Honeymoonist

See Our Latest Travel Picks in the Spring 2016 Issue of Destination I Do!

Pardon my braggy moment, but I was so excited to go to my bookstore today and see the latest issue of Destination I Do! I travel a lot, scouting for clients and writing about top honeymoon and wedding spots for various magazines. Destination I Do is one of my favorites; they share my undying passion for travel, and are some of the smartest, kindest people I’ve ever had the privilege of working with.

For this issue, I headed to Los Cabos, Mexico, which is a fave spot personally as well as for weddings and honeymoons, thanks to the abundance of great hotels, gorgeous natural beauty and the fact that Mexicans are some of the friendliest people on the planet. (Great tequila doesn’t hurt either!) The twin cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are booming and favorite hotels like Las Ventanas and One & Only Palmilla are better than ever, thanks to clean-up efforts post 2014’s Hurricane Odile that gave these five-star resorts the opportunity to redo the decor and add extras.

I loved my stay at The Cape, the chic new outpost from Thompson Hotels, and was wowed by the food, the rooftop deck and the views of iconic El Arco. If all-inclusive resorts are your thing (I love them for weddings!), both Hyatt Ziva and Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach are family- (and budget-) friendly options with multiple venues that work for all sorts of wedding styles, and affordable rates to boot.

On a separate trip, I headed to Guatemala. This country totally charmed me, from the views at Lake Atitlan to the colorful markets in the high country and the sophisticated restaurants in the colonial capital of Antigua. My home base was Casa Palopo, which I’ve covered in the blog before, and the magazine showcases it beautifully, with more detail.

Along with my travel picks, there’s loads of practical advice and wedding inspiration in the issue. You can pick it up at your local bookstore, or check out the digital issue here.
